Learning Outcomes

The extreme level of detail covered by this course will provide you with a firm foundation in the CCIE lab blueprint topics and prepare you for practicing full-scale lab exams in our R&S Lab Workbooks.

Recommended Background

Because introductory material is not covered, candidates for this class should already have a CCNP or equivalent level-of-knowledge. This class will also benefit CCIE candidates who have attempted the actual CCIE Lab Exam without passing and feel they need to take their knowledge and understanding of such crucial topics as IGP Redistribution, BGP, IPv6, and QoS to the next level before attempting the CCIE Lab again.

80 Hours of Technology Instruction in a Two-Week Format

Week One

View technologies in week one

Week one of class includes 40+ hours of hands-on lecture on core CCIE Routing & Switching topics, and is spent exposing the fundamental principles behind the technologies covered in the CCIE R&S Lab Exam. This week is designed to provide you with foundational technical understanding, not to supply candidates with tips and tricks to pass your Lab Exam. The key to passing the CCIE Lab Exam is to fully understand how to configure, verify, and troubleshoot the technologies covered in this week in a structured manner. Attempting the CCIE Lab without a full and in-depth understanding of these technologies leaves the candidate with little to no real chance of passing the exam, as these technologies are the building blocks of the actual CCIE Lab Exam. On 5th June I have passed R&S lab exam in Brussels. It was my first attempt. I have used Advanced Technologies CoD and four Mock Labs.
CoD series especially are excellent product - these lectures literally opened my eyes to many details.
Thank your very much for your products.
Syed Ahsan Mohiuddin - CCIE #23061
I passed my R&S Lab exam on Tuesday Dec 23, 2008. It was my 2nd attempt. I had passed my written in April 2007, also in 2nd attempt!

'The Journey' started in Jan 2003. It was a long road and a rough ride, sometimes side-tracked by other priorities or commitments. But I finally reached there.

Why did I choose IT as a career track?

As I was completing my High School in the year 2000, I knew that Computers & IT is an area of immense growth potential. I was aware that Oracle, as an ERP and MIS solution, was being implemented in my fathers workplace (a large air-conditioner manufacturer) and the expert IT professionals were being paid to the tune of USD 400 an hour to get the job done. So yes, as a 17-year-old guy, I pretty much knew what I was going to do in future professionally.

How did this decision lead to Network Engineering as a career?

After High School, I got admitted to Pakistan prestigious institute, The University of Karachi, in its revered Department of Computer Science. My peers were gold-medalists, A-1 graders, high-achievers from the various big high schools, so the pressure was immense. To stay afloat among such good peers, I had to work very hard. Frankly I was led to the decision of taking up Computer Networking as a career because I couldn't otherwise stand out from the crowd of beyond-cool Computer Programmers in my Graduate class.

What resources did I use to prepare?

I took the long road, doing my CCNA in the year 2005, CCNP in 2007 and finally CCIE. I would still recommend this long road because although CCNA or CCNP may not be industry certifications any more but these certs definitely lay the right foundation. I used several resources from time to time, including: Books: Routing TCP IP
Vol.1+2 (Jeff Doyle), BCMSN (David Hucaby), CCIE Official Exam Cert Guide (Wendell Odom), Workbooks: IEWB Vol.2 (InternetworkExpert.com), Narbik Kocharians Adv Tech Workbook, OOnline Classes: Class-on-Demand

Hello,

I want to inform you that I've passed the R&S lab exam on friday 6 feb on my first attempt.

I used IE Volume 1, Volume 2, Mock labs, Poly labs, Rack rentals and dynamips.

I started to prepare for the lab on January 2007 and 3 weeks before my lab I prepared 12-13 hours/day( doing labs, reading doccd and watching video materials at home without any pressure or disturbance).

I considered the lab at a rate of 7.5- 8 comparing with the difficulty of the IE Labs.

2 of the Open Ended questions was not so easy and made me think verry carefully about what they want from me and the other 2 questions were verry easy if you know the staff.

The diagrams from IE are very nice comparing with the diagrams from lab and I make my own diagram with colours/pencils.

I finished the lab in 5 hours and 30 minutes and I had enogh time to recheck all tasks twice and I found two faults and I corrected them.

I want to say that IE COD materials were great and helped me a lot(I watched 4-5 times all materials) .

I've done VOL2 1-20 labs 3 times (2 times using dynamips and one time using IE Rack Rentals) ,Mock Labs 1-7 -2 times (the average score was between 80-90 %) and Vol1.v5 1 time using dynamips and read it 2 more times.

I used also Open Lecture series (Video Materials) -watched them one time.

I could't made it for the first time without IE materials.

Dear Brian, Brian, Mike and everyone at Internetwork Expert....

It is with great joy and jubilation that I make the announcement that I have successfully passed the CCIE R&S lab on Friday May 16, 2008 and I am proud to wear the badge of Cisco CCIE number 20854, after a number of attempts(too many for my liking)!!!

It has been a huge learning curve for me throughout this whole process and I can say 'thank you' for providing me with the complete tools for acquiring the knowledge and understanding of this broad topic. Without the great teaching and explanations in depth of all the technologies required for the lab but also furthermore for the opportunity to face real world application, situation and scenarios and to be equipped with a foundation of information and technical understanding that I could find nowhere else.

You Brian's are the number one instructors out there and the service, advice and consultations provided by Mike and his crew has been top class from the beginning. I am planning to make use of the COD course's for my future endeavors as a reference tool as I continue to expand my current level to a professional scale and I know that I will make use of the other products that are available, some of which I already have been a subscriber to, namely, Voice COD and Service Provider COD. Once again, thank you for conveying your knowledge and experience to us but moreover for maintaining the highest standards of teaching and having the best possible information and quality delivered to us regularly!
Adeyemi Soyibo - CCIE #20739
I recently passed my CCIE R&S Lab.
I used your class-on-demand and bought time on your racks. Your COD's allowed me to start on my preparations for the lab after passing the written. I thank Brian Dennis and Brian McGahan for their straight forward approach to teaching with the show outputs being very key. Your workbooks allowed me to know all the possibilities and ways to achieve a result the Cisco way. Your outline on Dynamips allowed me to simulate different scenarios that I didn't understand so I could master them. Your blogs are excellent. Keep up the good work. Thanks Guys
Steve Heerensperger - CCIE #23551
Hey Guys - I passed the Routing & Switching Lab exam on Feb 4th after working extensively with your materials, including workbook volumes 1-3 and the Advanced Technologies CoD. All of your material is top notch, but the Volume I version 5 workbook was particularly helpful, and in my opinion is some of the best training material on the market. Keep up the great work - look forward to the Service Provider workbooks.
Rami Bakri - CCIE #21544
Hello IE Team,

I wanted to share that I passed the R&S lab last July 21. It was an achievement which I could only dream of obtaining if not for without your products. Throughout my preparation for the R&S lab, I had to rely heavily on Internetwork Expert's Workbooks and Class-on-Demand -- the quality of these products are EXCELLENT! And I can't wait to start using your products again when I go for my second CCIE.

Keep up the great work!

Thanks very much for the excellent material (COD/workbooks)

You are the best
Wasantha Fernando - CCIE #22154
Hi Brians,

I am glad to inform you that I successfully completed my R&S CCIE on last Wednesday in Sydney Lab.

I do not have words to express my feelings and particularly my language is not rich enough to thank you for your great guidance.

Your very first COD changed my whole life - THE STRUCTURED LEARNING APPROACH

Even now I hear both of your voice - even my kids know your voice now !!! It's amazing COD's.

It's time to get a small break and start SP in which I wish to hear that great lectures again.

Thanks again Brians !!!!
Christopher Huang - CCIE #21664
I successfully passed the R&S exam earlier this week. Your advanced CoD and mock labs are excellent and proved very helpful in supplementing my studies. Many thanks to the Internetwork Expert!
Reza Toghraee - CCIE #22518
I passed the R&S in my first attempt.

I'm very happy about my investment on Internetwork Expert. I used the self-paced program. I watch the COD 2 times. also I was very lucky, 3 days before my exam the VOL1 Ver 5 for IP services and system management released. its a real GEM and is a MUST.

The other special unique specification of Internetwork Expert is its people. the people whom take care of students, especially Mr Anthony who helped me a lot.

Internetwork expert was recommended to me by a friend and I recommend to everyone who would like to get it in the first attempt.
Dawood Ahmed Ghani - CCIE #21766
First of all i thanks my God who give me this success, i cleared my R&S lab in third attempt, it was very long and hard journey, I really advise all to go IE work books, online boot camp and COD which help you dig deep and help you understand the techonolgies very deeply and clearly. At the end i will say that passing CCIE not only R&S but all track with out more or less help from INTERNETWORKEXPERT is IMPOSIBLE.
Envuladu Tsaku Dogara - CCIE #23529
I passed my CCIE Lab examination on the 16th of February 2009. Couldnt believe it. The labs were straight forward but i had doubts about my answers to one of the open end questions. Had me anxious until I got home (12 hours flight).

I did my written exam in July 2007 but i had to take a break to study for a linux certification so i didn't start studying for my CCIE labs until 2008 January.

My first four months of studies were with IE COD and IE volume 1, Then i attended boot camp in Dubai which was a real eye opener for me.Started work with the workbooks and for my full labs i used IE vol 2.

I will like to use this opportunity to thank all those who have been helpful to me in my journey my class mates in Narbik bootcamp (Sadki, Pitt, Vignesh, Femi, Dawood, george, Badal, yap, dapasina) , I want to thank narbik for the wonderfull bootcamp and support. Thank all u guys that have been answering my questions in GS Scott moris, the other Scott,Jared, e.t.c u guys are the best. To my study partners in Nigeria,i wish u all the best especially with the mobile center comming up soon in Lagos Nigeria.U guys will come good.

This are the list of materials i Used:

1.Narbiks Soup and Nuts.

2.Narbiks Advanced Routing and Switching Workbook.(5 volumes)

3.IE COD.

4.IE vol 1

5.IE vol 2.

6.Scotts Moris audio lectures.Hope there is one for SP.

As for the open ended question, I don't think u need to prepare any differently. It's just a way of checking your level of prep .Easy questions really but watch the wordings though may also want to know that you are only allowed to fail a maximum of one.

I will have to hibernate now for a month. Can't wait to start reading something else.SP.
Kah (Edward) Wong - CCIE #21524
I passed my CCIE written in January 2007, and then due to work commitments, started to think about studying for the lab around October 2007. I bought the CCIE R&S end to end program from Internetwork Expert and found the material outstanding. Both the lab workbooks and the COD were particularly thought provoking and often led me to hours of extra reading on the DOC CD and internet just to clarify in my mind the concepts and particulars of the different features. This was great and by the time I actually sat the lab exam, I was confident that the Internetwork Expert materials have given me sufficient breath and depth of understanding to tackle anything that the lab throws at me. I am glad that my confidence was well placed, and passed the lab attempt on my first try. Studying for the CCIE is very time consuming and lots of sacrifices had to be made, but it has been very worthwhile and made me a much better engineer in the process.
